Sweet House’s 12 Days of Christmas Baking Demo

Sweet House
Tiano – Borja
Cagayan de Oro City

Sweet House, one of Cagayan de Oro’s newest Culinary School shared their baking skills and expertise thru their 12 Days of Christmas Baking Demo. For 12 days starting from the 1st of December, Chef Mich Uapal shared how to make baked goody one day at a time. For my part, I’ll just share four since I wasn’t able to attend in all classes.

1st of December was No Baked Brownies Day

This is a mixture of chocolate, cream and marshmallows chilled overnight to mold. Purely, this is a delight to both kids and kids at heart.

2nd of December was Sans Rival / Silvanas Day

Silvanas and Sans Rival is just the same the only difference is the size. Silvanas is smaller. This is a meringue covered in French Buttercream and nuts.

8th of December was Red Velvet Cheesecake Day.

It was my first time to hear such a cheesecake variety. Its made of cream cheese, cocoa power, eggs and red coloring crusted in crushed oreo cookies. A Bit of a trivia. Folklore said that one baker used red color to make a little experiment thus he created red velvet.

9th of December was French Macarons Day.

It’s a small disk of meringue filled with French buttercream. Adding flavoring to the French buttercream will make different varieties. I liked the salted caramel and coffee.

Once again, Thank you so much Chef Mich and Sweet House for sharing to us your skills, expert advice.

Experiencing Italianni’s New Twists to Old Hits

25 November 2014
Italianni's Centrio Branch
Cagayan de Oro City

I posted last 19th of November about Italianni’s New Twists to Old Hits, and now, I have the chance to experience it.

With four known people - a professional photographer, and SEO specialist, a mommy blogger and a fashion blogger - here in Cagayan de Oro, we shared a very sumptuous meals and dessert.

Italian Truffle Fries

Thinly sliced potatoes chips drizzled with Truffle Cream Sauce and served with a signature dip of mayonnaise and truffle paste. The taste of the truffles are the best twist for this all time favorite.

Smoked Salmon and Dill Pizza

The smoked salmon captured my interest. The crust is thin and crispy. Made with Cream Cheese, Goat Cheese and Gorgonzola Dill Sauce.

Peperoncino and Chorizo Pasta

Fresh spaghetti pasta tossed in olive oil, bacon, (shrimp), olives, and lots of pepperoni and Chorizo slices. One thing that captured my taste is the pepperoni and chorizo have a very tasty homemade taste. I really love oil based pasta and this is the best!

and to save the best for last, Strawberry Cheesecake.

Frozen Strawberry New York Cheesecake - brace yourselves for sensitive teeth pain attack - with strawberry sauce on the bottom and a scoop of whip cream on the side. Masarap pero nakaka ngilo.

Come to Italianni's Centrio branch to enjoy these and many more meals with new twist. Just ask their friendly staff for details.

The Samsung Smart Oven comes with more cooking settings in order to provide families with the best cooking experience possible. It includes features such as auto-cook for pre-programmed recipes yogurt making, dough proofing, and “Slim Fry” function. Slimfry function is what differentiates this from the typical Microwave Oven, since preparing meals no longer has to be an unhealthy experience.

Cooking healthier meals for the family without cutting on taste and texture is now made possible. Meanwhile, the other smart features this smart oven has fulfilled a multitude of purposes. Love at Home : Samsung Front Load Washing Machine

Another addition to their lineup of smart appliances is the Front Load Washing Machine. Doing the laundry is an arduous and time-consuming task. There are many things to consider when it comes to washing fabric, but Samsung’s newest Front Load Washing Machine makes cleaning clothes a breeze. It makes use of Samsung’s own Eco Bubble Technology that allows powerful cleaning in cold water. Using warm water is an extra step when it comes to doing the laundry, and it can also be damaging to some fabrics. But the Eco Bubble allows for easy cleaning by completely dissolving detergent even with cold water producing fine foam that easily penetrates the fabric for both effective and gentle, cutting the time, effort, and energy needed in doing this task.

left (white) is the front load washing machine; right (gray) is the top load washing machine
PS: bead design is not included

In addition to being extremely powerful with its high Revolution Per Minute (RPM) rate, it is also furnished with the Stain Away Program. This pre-programmed cycle was designed to deal with the 12 most common types of stains: blood, cocoa, sebum, oatmeal, tea, wine, tomato, pencil lead, mud, makeup, lipstick, and grass. It does all this with less noise, less vibration, and more performance than an ordinary washing machine. And of course, it is outfitted with the Digital Inverter Technology, guaranteeing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Love at Home : Samsung Showcase Refrigerator

Part of their new lineup also includes the new Food Showcase Refrigerator. This innovation provides smart organization for all your different types of food. There are two layers of doors in order to properly showcase the contents of the refrigerator, making it much easier to visualize your stocks. There are the outer compartments for your most frequently used products, allowing instant access. And then there are the inner compartments for ingredients that you don’t use as often. Not only does this maximize space, this setup makes organizing and consuming food a simple process. Everyone in the family, including the children can access refrigerator contents with ease.

The new Food ShowCase Refrigerator also features an ice and water dispenser. At the touch of a button, users can enjoy a refreshing glass of chilled filtered water or fill a pitcher with cubed or crushed ice.

This refrigerator is also equipped with Samsung’s trademark Digital Inverter Technology. This means that the refrigerator utilizes the same smart technology that allows it to adjust its temperature accordingly. Thus, no unnecessary energy is consumed, making this an efficient and cost-effective appliance

The Virus Doctor feature has received various accolades including a 2010 AHR Expo Innovation Award in the indoor air-quality category, a 1st Air Day Minister of the Environmental Award, and the Jang Young Sil Award. Now, mothers need not worry about air-born viruses and allergens with Samsung’s Virus Doctor technology.

Energy efficiency is a key purchasing decision for consumers. The Samsung Air Conditioner’s Single User mode gives the flexibility to the user to control the capacity by effective use of energy. Macabalan Wharf : the MacArthur Park

30 July 2014
Macabalan Park
Brgy Macabalan, Cagayan de Oro City

Macabalan Wharf is known for two things: Cagayan de Oro City Pier and; the MacArthur Park. For this post, I'll feature the historical value of Macabalan Wharf and why locals call it the MacArthur Park.

According to the Historical Marker and to what I had heard long ago. Macabalan Wharf was built by the Spaniards and cconqueredby the Americans. When Gen. Douglas MacArthur - the US Field Marshal in the Philippines during World War 2 - flee the Philippines from Corregidor Island (in Cavite Province) to Australia he made his quotable promise to his men and to the Filipino people "I shall return!". So from Corregidor Island he then went to Macabalan Wharf by boat then went to Del Monte Farms Airstrip in Bukidnon then by plane to Australia.

When he finaly returned, he landed in Palo, Leyte. and the rest as they sayy is another part of history.

The people of Cagayan de Oro honored Gen. MacArthur's heroism by building this park.

Its made of concrete. The hat symbolises his military cap that he always wore during the war. and the five stars that stands as its column represents his military rank of 5 Star General (of the US Army). In the middle of the marker is the replica or scale model of a PT boat symbolises the boat he used to in going to macabalan wharf.

At first i thought the park is closed since its gates are always close. Thus the second time I went there, I looked for the guards. One of the park opened the gates and welcomed me. She said that they always close the gates so that only "visitors" can come in and the would be "lovers" and "vandals" will not use the park to do their deeds.

To go to Macabalan Wharf:

Taxi = Just say MacArthur Park in Macabalan

Jeep or Multicab = Ride RA route for jeepney or RBC route for multicabs. Tell the conductor that youll go to MacArthur Park.

Mobile Wi-Fi : High Speed Internet on the Go

When we - my wife, her brother and family, and I - went to Bantayan Island for a weekend getaway, we brought along own gadgets like cellphones, laptop and plug-it wifi. While on the road for a 4 hour ride, I tried to use my plug-it wifi and it worked on some spots but not that stable. I do understand since we move from one town to the next signal dead spots comes out in no time.

When we reached our hotel, I tried again my plug-it wifi and sadly it did bogged down but my brother-in-law's plug it wifi streams fluidly, we even watched the live Pacquiao fight streaming without hassles. Based on this experience, I wrote on my bucket list that i'll purchase a pocket wifi so that I will not be tied down on a networked locked plug-it wifi. Since my wife and I are now both have wifi devices, I'll see to it that it will not be a plug-it wifi but it would be a Pocket Wifi router. Good thing SM Cyberzone have a month-long tech sale. I'll go to SM City Cagayan de Oro this coming August 30 or 31 to write off this dream to reality.

Of course before I'll buy something like IT devices, Ill search and research for it. Techno Mart in SM City Cagayan de Oro gave me some info of what I'm looking for. SM Cyberzone really have #EverythingForTheTechieInYou.

So here's my dream device that I'll purchase before the #31HappyCyberDays on August 31.

Its a pocket wifi from Huawei. I'll just plug in a Broadband SIM Card. Since its an open line (device) we can plug any network broadband SIM. Next would be to charge the battery and we now have high-speed internet on the go since it so compact, slim and portable.

Technology really changed my way of living not only because I'm a blogger but simply because it bring us closer to our loved ones even when we are far away from home or to each other. In fact, while we are traveling to Bantayan Island, Parents-in-law went to the hospital for mother-in-law's follow up check-up. I found out about it due to status photo of father-in-law. Thus, after settling our things we used the "facetime" app of brother-in-law to check on mother-in-law check-up results. She is fine then afterwards their grand daughters stepped in to cheer up their grand parents with their smiles and charms. Internet on the go and on the road really comes handy and beneficial too.

So folks! we still have two more days to grab some tech devices on sale for our techie lifestyle. Rush to your nearest SM Cyberzone. Say HI when we bumped each other at here in SM City Cagayan de Oro.
