The ‘I Heart CDO’ line, which includes a wide variety of personalised shirts and other products, focuses on love and pride of place. The campaign also highlights the things that make CDO a great tourist destination - whether it’s the food, the adventures, the sights, the people, the vibe, the views and everything under the sun. Through the ‘I Heart’ concept, locals are empowered and encouraged to “Show your love, Show your pride” for the city that they call home.

Mindanao Fashion Week Summit 2014

Its nearly July's end and the start of August. When we say August, the Kagaya-an Festival instantly comes in mind. To start off the Cagayan de Oro's Fiesta month, the Mindanao Fashion Summit will pave the way and kick start the fiesta. As the City Tourism Council said in a statement.

"The Mindanao Fashion Summit is all about national pride. Our past speaks of variety; from food to color, texture and even emotions. Our influences resonate from end-to-end; from south to north, from east to west. Despite this, we Filipinos have one ingredient that makes us one, and and this is what the Mindanao Current Fashion Summit wants to impart to every Kagay-anon; to all Filipinos and the rest of the world.

PROUD TO BE KAGAY-ANON.....THIS IS IT.....LETS DO IT....".

Why do we all need a BARON SOLAR KIT?

Im an immigrant here in Cagayan de Oro. While I'm still courting my wife, that was more than five years ago, she shares to me that they are experiencing massive rotational brownouts every summer. I only believed her story when I visited her during Aprils of each year. Damn! Its really massive: Mindanao wide; 4 to 12 hours per day for the months of March, April and May.

You see, Mindanao Island's power plants uses renewable energy (about 60-80%): Agus, Sibulan, Pulangui and Talomo Hydro Electric; Mindanao Geothermal Field; and Cagayan de Oro Photovoltaic are just to name a few. So when summer comes, rivers will dry up thus it will not supply much needed water pressure to said hydro plants.

As a result, 4 to 12 hours of rotational brownout per day for 3 summer months. Rural areas is much worst. Industries and businesses like hotels, restos, pharmacies fire up their own (diesel/gas) generators to make their business going. Of course, no client will stay on a hot unventilated hotel room without lights. Candle lit dinners are romantic but its not romantic on a candle lit dinner on a brownout. You can't even see your food nor your date. To make much worst, pollution from these generators fumes up the streets.

One solution of homes and businesses here is to use solar kits. Homes use basic solar kits that can power CFL or LED bulbs and charge a cellphone. Thats why we need Baron Solar Kit(s).

Photo courtesy from Adtel Website

Baron Solar Kits are not only for lighting up during (rotational) brownouts. We can use it also for calamities and disasters; on the road or campsite or even on a home garden. In short, this kit is not limited to emergencies, this kit is also best to lessen power consumption, here's my ideas:

  • To power up a study lamp, a laptop during nights of work or study.
  • To charge up our gadgets like laptops, tablets and phones.
  • To light up dark areas in our home or room.
  • To light up bulbs outdoors like garden, garage/carport at night.
  • To power rural or remote areas like mountain and seas. Farmers will now have lights on their sheds and fishermen will not attract fishes to their boats.
The most important of all, we will not use fire hazard candles or kerosene lanterns saving our and our neighbors' lives and properties.

To make the story short, we all need Baron Solar Kits not just for emergency purposes but also to save lives, property and of course power consumption. It can lessen the pollution too since it will lessen the use of generators.

Tonkatsu by Terazawa's Chef's Speciaty Katsu

10 June 2014
Tonkatsu by Terazawa
G/f Centrio Mall
Roa-Recto, Cagayan de Oro City

Before I share to you the Katsu varieties of  Chef Terazawa, let me share to you the secret behind every katsu he made.

Curing Kurobuta Pork for Kurobuta Rosu Katsu
Chef Terazawa prepares and cooks tonkatsu using the traditional method. The secret is on the curing of pork cutlets by wrapping it in white cloth for three days before cooking it with fresh bread crumbs.

Curing Iberico Pork for Iberico Katsu
Now that we know his secret let us now know the specialties, first stop is the Hire (hee-re) Katsu. "Hire" means pork fillet.

Hire Katsu Set
Taste = 4/5. Looks = 5/5. Serving = 4/5. Price = good.

Next is Rosu Katsu. "Rosu" means pork loin and expect to have a little pork fat. Tonkatsu by Terazawa uses local pork for the Hire and Rosu Katsu Sets. But there is one variety that made Rosu katsu set more yummy, the Kurobuta Rosu Katsu.

Kurobuta Rosu Katsu Set

Kurobuta is a Japanese Berkshire Black Pig. Tonkatsu by Terazawa only uses the imported pork from Japan for this set. Taste = 5/5. Looks = 5/5. Serving = 5/5. Price = good.

Last stop before our dessert is the best (for me) of them all. The Iberico Kastsu. We all know that Jamon Iberico is one of the tastiest and one of the most expensive type of ham from an Iberian Black Pig. Tonkatsu by Terazawa uses the same type of pork for this katsu which they imported from Spain.

Iberico Katsu Set
Taste = 7/5. Looks = 5/5. Serving = 5/5. Price = best.

All Katsu Sets have: shredded cabbage, a bowl of rice, 2 side dishes and a bowl of miso soup. As promised lets go now to our dessert. Each katsu will definitely bring you to Japan with this Frozen Green Tea.

Green Tea Ice Cream and meringue :"> so yummy. Taste = 6/5. Looks = 6/5. Serving = 6/5. Price = best

Tonkatsu by Terazawa is located in the ground floor of Centrio Mall. They share a space with her sister company Italianis.
